Follow the Bride, Part 1: Amanda Jones

Amanda Jones and Josh Maddox

When a woman is ready to get married, she’s ready.  That’s exactly how Amanda Jones felt last summer. After all, she’s known Josh Maddox since they were in 8th grade together.

Amanda, owner of Regency Salon in the Marriott hotel, said she didn’t start dating Josh seriously until about five years ago. Prior to that, they were just good friends.

On a Thursday in July, while Amanda was working late, Josh went to dinner at Litton’s in Fountain City. He went with his parents and ran into some friends. Like a good boyfriend, he picked up dinner for Amanda and had it waiting for her when she came home from work. While she was at work, a friend showed her a brochure for Castleton Farms and told her, “This is where you’re going to get married when you do.”

After a stressful day at work, Amanda and Josh “discussed” getting married. When she showed him the brochure, she had no idea what he had up his sleeve. After their conversation, at his suggestion, she got on the computer. When she scrolled down on the computer, she saw:

“I was just wondering. . .
Would you like to. . .
Marry me!”

And with it was a picture of the ring box he had with him. Amanda said that while Josh was at dinner, he’d spilled the beans to his friends. And, since Amanda was going to see these friends at a gathering the next night, Josh knew he had to pop the question that night.
Amanda and Josh went to look at Castleton Farms together and fell in love with it. “I wanted a venue where the ceremony and reception is at the same place.”

Stay tuned to find out more about Amanda and Josh’s wedding on July 17, 2010.
