Follow the Bride: Ruthann Bindon, Part I

Where does a girl from Michigan and a boy from Farragut meet the love of their life? In Alaska if they’re Ruthann Bindon and Mark Fleenor.

Last summer, Ruthann was working as an assistant for Kingdom Air Corps, a mission that helps prepare bush pilots for missionary work. Mark, who is planning to be a missionary pilot, went Alaska to train.

“We both noticed each other,” Ruthann said. She said they got to know each other better when later that summer they both worked at a Bible camp for children near the Arctic Circle. Ruthann was a counselor and Mark flew to pick up children from remote villages and run errands.

“We recognized that we’re both on the same path,” Ruthann said.

During the winter, Kingdom Air Corps closes camp in Alaska and Ruthann came to work in Texas and stay with friends. Mark continued his aviation mechanics courses and his work toward receiving his A&P license at LeTourneau University in Texas.

So, where does a Tennessee boy pop the question to a Michigan girl. In Anguilla, of course.

In January, Ruthann and Mark went to the Caribbean island with her family. It was sunset, on a deserted beach with huge waves crashing on the shore when Mark proposed to Ruthann. Sigh. How romantic!

Ruthann and Mark will be married at Castleton Farms on August 7th.

Stay tuned to find out more details about their wedding plans.
